6/18/2022At end of day 2 of the test we spotted this restaurant as we came out of the ground. I had read good reviews so we took a chance and... read more asked for a table for 2 ,despite them being very busy with cricket fans.
A delightful young lady ( sorry missed her name ) immediately took us to a table and within minutes we were served ice cold pints of Cobra.
Really interesting menu with dishes I has never seen from many regions of India . We enjoyed tandoori starters, chicken, lamb dishes rice and fresh naan. Food was fresh and delicious.
Waiting staff were wonderful - asking about our day at the cricket and looking after our every need. Made us feel very welcome in your city.
Thanks to all at this excellent restaurant as 2 very full and happy fans headed to our hotel to get a rest
before day 3. We will be back for both the cricket and the food.peterlN314LF

5/22/2022This is a very friendly restaurant with a relatively unusual menu - dishes you don’t find elsewhere and based on th3 chefs own experience. The service was very good and... read more the food excellent. The bhajis and samosas were some of the best I’d had. Crisp, light, not oily.

5/18/2022Despite slow service, the service recieved was warm and inviting and really only reason why this review is a 3 star.
We were sat at the back of the... read more restaurant where it felt untidy and dirty as we faced the toilet and til area. Our table cloth was stained and I swapped a dirty plate with my partner as he's much more reserved than I am.
The chilli chicken starter was hugely disappointing; it didn't actually have the texture of chicken nor did it tatse like chicken; very poor quality meat.
The amritsari was overfried in stale oil- monkfish is meaty and delicate yet the dish was overseasoned and overdone.
The naans were also overdone meaning the thick fluffy robustness of a usually well done naan was lacking and as a result we ended up with crispy, flat, burnt bread.
The peshwari has a good flavour.
There should always be a stipulation when being served a spirit as to whether it is a 25ml or 50ml serving. I should also have the option to pour the tonic in myself so I can choose how much I'd like in it.
All in all very average food at best and wouldn't revisit despite being local. Was hoping to have something decent on the doorstep but looks like venturing out of Masala Junction on Mansfield Road is the way forward for us.fs278

4/11/2022Wow what a great find. We stumbled across this after an away game at NFFC and whilst the outside did not look fantastic we are so glad we went in.... read more Very nice decor, incredibly helpful staff and a fantastic menu. 1/29/2022I've had several meals from this restaurant now and all been really good. They do the usual dishes but also have something new to try.
The meals don't look as... read more processed as most other curries do. For example, you can actually see the spinach in the Saag aloo.
My first curry of 2022 was new to me, something with chicken and mango. Was gorgeous and not too spicy (they add more heat to it if you want).
But my favourite thing to get from them is their Peshawari naan, you could wake me up for one. I just missedthe anise seeds in it last Sunday.Jetje R
1/04/2022I was very disappointed with our food on this occasion, we have eaten here several times always enjoyed our food, but this is the second take away from the there,... read more the peshwari naan was full of of pink stuff and wasn't cooked inside, no coconut rice, no idea what be we had in its place and some of the chicken in the Tikka Masala was very yellow in colour looked re heated, We have always enjoyed our food in the past but this time very disappointed with the quality ☹️

12/31/2021We had a meal for four people, seated in, mains and dessert.
Immediately reading the menu I knew this was going to be good. The chef (and possibly... read more owner?) hopes you will try his more traditional Indian dishes, rather than what he terms the 'British classics', such as jalfrezi, balti, Madras etc. Although these are available on request. Dish recommendations and wine pairings are also on the menu.
His traditional dishes did not disappoint - rich and complex flavours, all perfectly cooked and seasoned! Proper Indian food, and one of the best we've had. The highlight was the tandoori monkfish, this was very special, and I would highly recommend you try it.
I wouldn't order the mushroom rice again, as whilst good, it wasn't the best I've had. However the bread was so good I'd go for that instead!
The service was great and we felt well taken care of even though we didn't have a reservation. We will certainly be coming back here, often.Tom W

I visited this restaurant on Saturday, after a day out with friends. We were welcomed warmly by the manager and her staff, all of whom treated us extremely well and... read more were very attentive. The ambience was very nice and welcoming and the menus offered a fascinating selection of interesting food, much of which was new.
I am a vegan and the choices I had were very good. I had the black eyed bean curry, which was quite unlike any Indian food I had tasted: light, full of flavour and very filling. I wish I could try it again soon but unfortunately I do not live locally. My friends enjoyed a selection of meat-based curries which I sadly can't remember anything about, such was my enjoyment of my meal. We all shared naan and rice and, refreshingly, the portion sizes were sensible rather being too big. That meant that we enjoyed a delightful meal, we ate as much as we wanted to but we left without feeling horribly full.
I have never had such excellent, flavoursome Indian food and, although I live in Oxfordshire, I will definitely be returning when I visit friends. In fact, I'm sure we will insist upon it the next time we visit Nottingham!
A note for any vegan purists: I know that a lot of Indian food is not strictly vegan and I did not specifically ask for this, so I have no qualms at having enjoyed everything provided me without necessarily knowing that it was strictly vegan. As it was such a good restaurant, I am sure that they would have accommodated my wishes had I asked them to.H7818DWandyc

We have been using Indian Nights for years but unfortunately they don't do delivery so tried Bombay and was not disappointed. We told family about Bombay and how impressed we was with the food. Well we got a voucher for a gift and went to the Restaurant. We was greeted by very friendly staff and taken to our table which I booked online very easy . The restaurant is quite big and looked very clean . Our waiter was very nice and helpful they all was. I had a lamb bhuna and my partner likes the garlic chilli chicken with naan bread. Yet again the food was delicious I would recommend this restaurant to eat in or have a takeaway. We did have couple drinks each and like most restaurants they cost bit more. It came to £60 for 2 people which isn't too bad for a night out and great food . Thank you for a lovely evening .

Lovely surroundings and good portion sizes (I often come home with a doggy bag and enjoy the flavours again the next day for lunch!)

6/29/2021We booked this restaurant for a nice romantic meal for two but this happened to be on the same night as a cricket match and the whole restaurant was full... read more of drunken shouting blokes and was far too loud. They were swearing and swapping tables and nothing was done by the staff, we didn’t feel very covid safe.
I don’t know if that contributed to the appalling service we received or not. Yes the restaurant was very busy, but frankly it has been designed to be that size and the business should be able to deal with that amount of customers. It took us over 90 minutes after ordering to get our food which is ridiculous.

2/06/2020This is a terrible place. I was overcharged and ripped off. The prices on the take out menu online at the restaurant's website do not reflect the actual price. I... read more only noticed when I got home and looked at the receipt. When I called and discussed this with the manager he said the price had changed, but that it was not reflected on the online menu. This was a significant increase too, about 20%. The manager was very aggressive and rude on the phone and basically would do nothing to alleviate the fact that the online advertised price differed significantly from what I was charged. I'll never go again and recommend everyone avoid this place.
At the minimum make sure you get the prices of food when you order on the phone if you must eat here.
More importantly, the food is also just ok, and very small portions for the overpriced cost. I was still hungry after eating a ~£10 dish with rice and a popadom.J S

11/23/2019Popped in to Bombay as the kids and wife are at the school disco.
It may seem weird to some people but when you have a family there’s... read more definitely a bonus to eating alone sometimes.
The starter I ordered was Shai Jinga (huge prawns) a really good size and the chutneys and accompanying onions and peppers were great. Strangely as well I normally discard the salad side but having fresh crisp lettuce really added to the dish. Really nice to be served on a warmed platter rather than a sizzler plate that can char just that little too much, nice bit of heat to the pickle served alongside (which I like) which gave you the option to spice the dish up if you liked.
The Laal mass (spicy lamb) was my choice for main and I wasn’t disappointed. Excellent heat. It’s always good when an Indian restaurant actually delivers a well cooked hot dish rather than something that is inedible for the sake of challenging the taste buds of an inebriated customer challenging themselves for the hottest curry they can find. Being able to order a hot curry without actually having to explain you’re not trying to defy your stomachs capabilities is very refreshing. The rice dish is small because I asked for a half portion as I’m not a huge rice fan.
An excellent meal cooked well and only complemented by the perfect service.
